The art and magic of potions has been a part of the witch’s existence since before there were witches, and alcohol has been around just as long. The science of blending the two is a special kind of alchemy. Here are two recipes for your magical Litha celebration.
Backwoods Witch Litha Lemonade
4 parts fresh lemonade (2 part fresh squeezed lemon juice, 2 parts water)
1 fresh strawberry; sliced
1 fresh strawberry for garnish; optional
Add moonshine and lemon juice to chilled tumbler with ice, add strawberries; ( muddle if desired, or leave sliced for a moonshiney little snack at the end) add strawberry for garnish. Bless your Litha Lemonade, thank the god and the goddess for such a delightful treat and enjoy!
For the sweeteeth among us, add a raw sugar rim; muddling the strawberries will also add a layer of sweet.
Poor House Summer Ale
Fresh squeezed juice from 1 ruby red grapefruit
Fresh squeezed juice from 1/4 lemon
Chilled Seidel or beer mug
Cut grapefruit in half, remove seeds, squeeze directly into chilled glass, repeat with lemon quarter. Add beer, acrabadabra! The Poor House Sumer Ale. This is a refreshing, energizing drink perfect for a hot summer afternoon.
